We have lived in Houston for 2 1/2 years and it looks like we are going to experience our first hurricane! Every hurricane season we have gotten several close calls but fortunately we have never been hit. Well.... Ike looks like it is coming our way and will be a direct hit on Houston. It is currently a category two storm and they predict by the time it hits Houston it will be at least a three, possibly a four. It is supposed to hit early morning around 3am Saturday. We will watch the storm for the next day or so to see how it develops before we decide if we will evacuate. For now, we have our 72 hour kits, stocked up on batteries and water, filled our gas tanks and today I am going to get some canned foods so we can eat ok for a few days. We will most likely lose power. We have a gas stove so we can cook some food, if we stay and stick it out.
Anyways, that is the update there. We will keep you posted on what we decide to do. We will have our cel phones with us (hopfeully they will be working). Ta Ta for now! Oh dread....if we die...we love you all!!! ;)

They are saying we might even be getting crazy winds where we are, and they are letting school out early tomorrow in anticipation of traffic issues. i'm interested to see of this is all "overblown" or if it will really turn out to be something. keep us posted on whether you head this way or not!
Every time I hear about this storm, I think about you guys. Thanks for the report. We'll keep you in our prayers. It sounds like you are prepared, and that is the key. At least you have warnings. In CA we don't get to watch earth quakes make landfall. I better get prepared.

I see no update. Did you die??? Where are you???? My sister in law was hit. They had to evacuate and all that stuff. scarry
Hello all. Sorry no update before now. We are alive but still without power! It has been a crazy week. We are supposed to have power by monday for sure. I will post pics and more details when I can.
